A lifelong artist, Deb is known for her watercolor work with its vivid color and unusual detail. Inspired by the famous Cape Ann light, her favorite subject matter is boats, reflections, architecture, street scenes and coastal landscapes.
Her paintings are done entirely from her own photographs and memory in the studio. She paints every day!
Deb happily accepts commissioned work whether it be a house portrait, boat portrait, or your favorite landscape.
“I enjoy painting the intricacies of light, shadow, and pattern while maintaining the accuracy and realism that is satisfying to me as a representational painter. I see abstraction in reality and combine it with intentional color juxtaposition and glazing. Some of this is learned technique and some of it is an innate thing. Watercolor feels good to me. I love the way the color soaks into the paper and coats it. It’s very tight, but it’s also loose. I finish every one that I start. There is never a “do-over”. Being precise is what I like to do. I learned years ago not to fight it, but to embrace it.”
